4-day Itinerary for the Republic Day Weekend

Who here does not desperately wish for long weekends for some downtime, or maybe even some weekend getaways that make us feel fresh as ever. Well, this time the gods were gentle. The first month of 2023 comes with a long Republic Day weekend where one can finally make those plans a reality. Thursday to Sunday, here’s your Andaman itinerary for 4 days of fun, entertainment and being a local!

Day 1 - Port Blair

Visiting Port Blair in January is an exemplary time as the weather is extremely kind with plenty of sunshine and a hint of cold in the air. This city offers a variety of spectacles and fun activities as well as historical monuments. If you want to brush up on Indian history then you can visit Cellular Jail, also known as 'Kala Pani’. It offers an awe-inspiring light show that is held in the wake of all the prisoners that were imprisoned there. Ross Island, also known as ‘Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose Dweep’ is also one of Port Blair's historic places. It contains some of the oldest British and Japanese structures in India. Barely 5 kms from here is Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, which offers a bunch of fun sea activities to do or just breathe in the fresh air and relax. Symphony Samudra Beachside Jungle Resort And Spa is the perfect choice of stay if you want to make your experience in Port Blair even more memorable.

Day 2 - Havelock Island

Havelock Island is one of the most welcoming islands for tourists. It is surrounded by dense tropical jungles away from the crowd with the most beautiful white sandy beaches. If you're looking for serenity away from your everyday life by getting close to nature, this is the place to be. Radhanagar Beach, one of the most famous beaches in Asia, allows you to appreciate nature for what it is, with crystal-clear waters where you can admire a beautiful sunset or go for a swim. There are always safety measures in place so you need not worry about anything. Kalapathar Beach is a beach in Havelock Island that is loved not only for the destination, but also for the journey leading up to it; you can admire the leaf bed on one side and the endless sea on the other. It is a destination which isn't pervaded with tourists so you can either walk and admire the beach, or relax after a tiring yet beautiful day. Your hectic day indulging in activities can get even better if you stay in luxury at Symphony Palms Beach Resort And Spa.

Day 3 - Neil Island

37 km south of Port Blair lies the magnificent Neil Island. This bewitching getaway destination has amazingly clear water where you can go snorkelling, or a soul-enriching scuba dive that might just become one of the most memorable moments of your life. Neil Island is a place waiting to be explored and admired, so to do that to the fullest you can rent a bicycle and roam around this island's picturesque vistas. If you love trekking then you're in for a treat as its biodiversity and dense tropical forests offer you just that. Symphony Summer Sand Beach Resort And Spa is a resort in Neil Island where you can relax after a long day. Your Andaman 4-day itinerary is incomplete without staying here.

Day 4 - Island Tourism Festival

Andaman and Nicobar Islands are known for their famous Island Tourism Festival which goes on for 15 days. The main event is held at Port Blair, while various smaller events run across different islands. The festival is decked with concerts, dance performances, kite-flying, games, handicrafts and a range of enthralling activities. Since the festival duration is long, it should not be a problem catching it live during your Republic Day vacation.

Well, covering the whole of Andaman in 4 days seems like a big task, but this is what you can look at when you plan your Republic Day weekend. And if you are someone who craves some beach time, read “The Best Beaches in Port Blair”.
